What are some of your recommendations?

When making these lists I was also thinking back to high school summer reading days and what books were required for class (plus, my HS reunion was this past weekend and one of my classmates is now an English teacher at our alma mater and we were discussing what books they read in class). I think I should go back and read some of these to see how I like them/don’t like them now. Here are a few I had to read…

1. Portrait of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde

2. A Separate Peace by John Knowles

3. Night by Elie Wiesel

4. Antigone by Sophocles

5. The Crucible by Arthur Miller

6. Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury

7. Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad

8. The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan

9. Animal Farm by George Orwell

10. The Jungle by Upton Sinclair

Do you remember liking any of your required reading? What were your favorites?

  1. I just went through all of my books from high school and found many on your list. I’ve got to start Hunger Games again…
